We work with you to achieve your product goals.

Product development is key function of the contract manufacturing services we provide. We know that to have a successful product, you need to have the right formula and the science to support it.

If you have already developed your formula and flavor system, our lab will match your control sample with a verification process to make sure it’s right. However, if you’re developing a new product, we can help you all the way through formulation and product development.

Sharing market knowledge

We’re aware of new products and trends in the marketplace and what customers are looking for. We can make recommendations on new products or line extensions and inform you about new, well-researched ingredients that can help boost existing sales or jumpstart a new formulation. Protein Research may even be able to suggest new, patented ingredients that can give you a marketing and technical edge over your competition.

Making difficult formulations easy

Protein Research has the expertise to meet your requirements for new or existing products. We work with easy and difficult formulations, and have a lot of experience with protein powders, tablets, capsule formulations, vitamin enrichment, and effervescent powders.

Meeting government regulations

In the U.S. many of the products we manufacture are regulated by Food and Drug Administration (FDA) under the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act (DSHEA) of 1994, and require nutritional support statements. We have the expertise to make sure all your claims are supported. The FDA also requires restricted access to formulations. Protein Research has systems in place to protect the security of all formulations in compliance with these rules and with our customers’ requirements. We work with vendors, quality-control team, and third-party labs and auditors to ensure our continued compliance to the new Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) requirements for dietary supplements (21CFR 111).

Good taste

If your product is something consumers will taste, sensory evaluation and taste profile are key success factors. We do a great job of developing flavor systems that mask some of the herbal extracts and mineral compounds that taste bad in their raw state. We can develop tastes that fit a wide variety of other requirements to meet or exceed your expectations.

Producing to your parameters

Not every ingredient has the same shelf life. However, we know how much of an overage you’ll need for each ingredient to meet label claims for the promised shelf life. We can also work with the requirements for kosher, organic, or non-allergenic formulations and the different flavorings or stability agents required for each—or add materials to prevent moisture damage if you’re shipping product overseas.

Where experience counts

Protein Research can help you get the product you want to market faster. With our ability to implement the features you need, we can also help you be more successful—while improving taste, color, and stability. In fact, we can often make products work when other production companies cannot.

With our broad range of pre-qualified suppliers, we can often find the ingredients you need to meet category requirements, or find options that will fulfill your needs another way.

Protein Research can also recommend packaging with excellent moisture barriers, or desiccants for bottles to extend storage life and shipping flexibility. We have sent product to the United Arab Emirates, Canada, the U.K., Japan, Mexico, and more. We not only know how to package and ship internationally, but know what ingredients can be sold in different countries (or can help you find out).
